I’ve signed up as an online collector for Blind Week to help bake a difference to more than 11,500 blind and partially sighted New Zealanders.
Bake a difference? Well, my blog is all about the best vegan food in Auckland, I'm fond of a good vegan cupcake, and this year the RNZFB is encouraging people to organise baking fundraisers for Blind Week (www.bakeadifference.org.nz). What better way to bring it all together than with a virtual vegan bake sale?
Each day during Blind Week, I'll be posting on An Auckland Vegan, aucklandvegan.wordpress.com, about vegan baking: where you can find the best ingredients in Auckland, what to do with agave nectar, and how to veganise recipes that use eggs or cow's milk.
I'll even do some baking myself! If you donate, you can vote on which fancy vegan cupcakes I should attempt to bake this weekend (vote at: http://www.facebook.com/AKLvegan/posts/179756222109840). As well as this, if you donate any amount, you'll get a copy of my favourite foolproof vegan chocolate chip cookie recipe.
Why the RNZFB? When I'm not blogging about vegan food, I'm lucky enough to work in systemic advocacy and stakeholder relations for the RNZFB: my work is all about making New Zealand a better place for blind and partially sighted people.
The RNZFB provides life-changing services for its members, yet less than one third of what it does is funded by government sources.
Please join me helping to support the RNZFB this Blind Week by donating to my collection.
- $30 could help towards the production of a braille book.
- $60 could help pay for one person's talking books for a month
- $120 could help a blind person receive specialist training to get around safely.
Thank you
